HoopWise started the way most basketball ideas start: with arguments. Endless debates about which team “won” the offseason, which one will dominate next year, and which one should play the most beautiful basketball. Then the season begins, reality hits, and the same questions return: why is this player underperforming, why doesn’t it work, what did we miss in our initial - full of excitement but always theoretical - assessment? Such conversations always included the classic lines: “if I were the GM, I’d have signed someone else, he obviously fits the system better”, or, “the coach only asks for great talent, and then he crosses his fingers that the chemistry will be right”.

HoopWise is our attempt to turn that instinct into something measurable. We built a way to quantify fit, project roles in new environments, and model how a player will translate within a team’s identity, playstyle, and existing roster. Because roster building isn’t just about finding great players. It’s about finding the right ones, even when the box score doesn’t shout.
